Post Transplant- Day 3

Ry is still moving along slow and steady.  Today has been filled with a little more discomfort than before.  We are trying our best to keep it under control and hope we can keep her recovery as pain-free as possible.  Unfortunately, her "right heart" is still quite angry.  The CVP pressure are still really high and haven't begun to come down yet.  Docs still say that we will just continue to watch them and hope they will trend down with time.  Right now they are causing Rylynn some headaches, but we haven't see any other major effects.  Meds have continued to be weaned.  We only have a couple of which must stay in the IJ line and last arterial line.  This simply means we can't take out those lines. :(  We also have not made any moves today toward removing her chest tubes either.  We will need to wait another 24 hours or so and then reevaluate.  Unfortunately, Ry has continued to vomit with any intake.  She is desperately asking for fluids.  We have given her a very limited amount of ice chips and hope that her bowel will begin moving soon and make her feel better.
So all in all today will continue without any major changes.  She is quieter and resting much more than yesterday.  I hope this will give her body the chance to really recover.
I've attached a few pics from the past few days.  Enjoy!

After getting the news: Ry so confused as to why I won't get off the phone and keep crying.

Resting quietly (still with the VAD) prior to surgery

Just before they took Ry to surgery

Headed back from the OR post-transplant.  She looked beautiful!

So happy so see her for a short glimpse before heading to her room.

We pray you feel God's presence and comfort like a blanket of peace covering you all. He is in control.

WOW! That picture of the IV meds post op really blew me away. You are such a strong woman and mother. I just crumbled emotionally seeing that picture. Rylynn has a super human mommy! :) Will pray for continued strength and courage for you and for Gilly too through all this. Its so wonderful that Ry finally got her heart - and we will be praying for her continued recovery.

I'm sure it takes time for the "pressures" to equalize and her bowels to start working again...we just have to be patient. We will continue to pray for these to resolve very soon so Ry can start feeling better and enjoy her new heart.

Thanks for all the pictures and updates - we know you are SUPER busy and SUPER exhausted. She really looks great - I especially love that you got to hold her and snuggle with her a little bit despite all the wires.

Praying, praying, praying for a full recovery for sweet little Ry and for peace, comfort and strength for you and Gilly as well. :)

I learned about Rylynn from your cousin Marcie. My sister Kathy works with her. I was with Marcie when she got the call that Rylynn had been put back on the list for a heart on 10-1-11. I told her my story of how my 17 year old son had donated his organs after a car accident. The man that got my son's heart was in ICU in critical condition and had his hopes up and down, i.e. people backing out, etc. I told Marcie miracles happen and that I believed in God and to never give up. I prayed for Rylynn to find a heart. I am so glad that she did and I continue to pray for her. She truly is a special angel. My prayers are with you all. Mary K. White

Andrea - that huge smile on your face says it all!! And Ry looks so great with her belly uncovered and the VAD gone. Her IV pole reminded so much of Will's - what a cocktail they both had to have!! Modern medicine and miracles are wonderful!! We will be praying for comfort, calm right heart and working intestines for your precious baby.
Thank you so much for all the updates - we hang on to every one that you post!
Our love to you, Gilly and Ry.

PS - can not believe how long her beautiful hair has gotten!!

I bet her OU bow gave her super strength to "sit in purple chair" on POD #2. Yeah, that was totally it! ;-)

Saying continued prayers for y'all! - Katie, RN
