How this all got started

I started this blog in the spring of 2009 to share our story with our friends and family. The story revolves around our little miracle Rylynn and her broken heart. She was born on May 1, 2009 with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS). She endured two open heart surgeries during her first year and amazed each of her doctors with quick recoveries and great results. However, when Rylynn was just 18 months old, her half of a heart just couldn't keep up with her growing, energetic self. Our only option was to list her for a heart transplant. It was a very difficult journey that included a mechanical device to help our little girl's body function. She's been through so much, but on this side of her miracle journey, she is a happy beautiful little girl. Gilly and I are so grateful for our blessings and enjoy sharing our story with you! We hope you enjoy reading about our lives. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of this adventure and helped us through it. You are all very special to us.
