The last couple of weeks have been great! I am happy to report that Rylynn has been healthy and I think she's even put on a few ounces. I can tell by looking, but even the scale seems to agree. We still have a couple of weeks before our appointment on the 17th so we have to keep working at it, but I'm hoping our hard work will show.
Rylynn is still the same crazy Rylynn... talkin' up a storm and dancin' all the time. We took full advantage of few days of beautiful Texas weather we had this past weekend. We spent lots of time at the park swinging. This kid is still a fanatic about swinging. On Sunday afternoon we had to run a few errands. We didn't mention that we might go to the park because we weren't sure if we'd have time or not. But on the way home, Gilly said don't tell her we're going to stop and let's see if she figures it out. We pulled into the drive of the park and as we slowed down to park she literally screamed "Swing!!" and I thought she was going to bust out of the carseat!
Now we wake up to 12 degree temperatures with windchills below zero!! This is not Texas weather and I'm ready for it to leave Hewitt and have our mild afternoons back.
This move to Hewitt and our new lifestyle has been quite a change for our family. Gilly, Rylynn and I have a wonderful family who is always up to something and friends who invite us to things all over the state. We are used to having very, very busy weekends. Rylynn has always been easy going and when she was feeling great she came along with us everywhere we went. Now days we find ourselves enjoying quiet weekends at home. I had a really hard time when we missed traveling during the holidays, but have come to value each weekend spent with just Rylynn and Gilly. I know I'll never have this time back with her and its wonderful spending it with such a happ,y healthy toddler. I would be lying if I didn't say that this last week it's been hard thinking that I will miss all three of our nieces' and our nephew's birthday parties in the coming weeks and it breaks my heart. I know that they know I love them, but it just stinks to have to miss their big day! I love you Tyler, Sydney, Shelby and Jackson! I hope ya'll have the Happiest Birthday's EVER!
On the homefront, we've been up to something very big! I am such a proud mommy because Miss Rylynn has begun potty training and is doing excellent!!! We've been talking about it, reading about it, and even watching Elmo videos about it for the past several weeks and this past Friday we got the potty out of the box and began. And within a couple of days she really nailed it! The first morning I was washing clothes as fast as I could and still could not keep up with number of accidents we were having. But something clicked that afternoon and she's doing great. I'm not a fool and have talked to enough moms to know that this is an extended process, but I could not be prouder of her and hope that it keeps going well.
With all the craziness of the past several months, Gilly and I have been too consumed to try to take a little time for ourselves. But a couple of weeks ago we had a wonderful invitation that we couldn't pass up. Gilly's parents invited us to attend the Governor's Inaugural Celebration. This is the third time they have asked us to attend and we finally were able to make it, even with the circumstances. Ry stayed here with Gigi and Papa while I drove into Austin for the event. We had a wonderful evening and I made it home to a snuggled Rylynn, sleeping peacefully.
